Dance for Joy:
The New Testament says (paraphrase) when you are persecuted for doing the right thing "dance for joy." Those times seem to be when dancing for joy seems the last thing I feel like doing and it is hard sometimes to be detached enough to not dwell on hurt feelings, anger and resentment for shabby treatment by others. Still as in a Man For All Seasons, "we must stand firm a little"
ie. we must try to persevere in doing good peacefully and without resentments even when some people take it the wrong way. The Cross is a sign of victory and gain and as St. Louis
de Montfort says, (paraphrase) without some Cross, it is not clear that what we are doing has any value.
I also have to be careful of my
tendency to people please and to not act like a doormat to other people's dysfunctional behaviors, addictions or acting out. I need to be a good steward to myself also and take care of myself in terms of proper rest, diet,
exercise, Spiritual physical, mental,
et al. Sometimes a proper focus on taking care of myself will help me to not be so troubles by the actions and reactions of others.
